The number of brides marrying while pregnant is increasing each year – not necessarily because there are more of them, but because it is not so much of a stigma as it once was. In the past couples would hastily re-arrange their wedding date, postpone it or have a strictly private occasion. Today’s brides are a lot less hung-up about it and don’t see any reason to hide the fact that they are with child.
Unfortunately, the choice of traditional wedding wear for expectant brides is somewhat limited. High Street retailers tend to restrict the choice to oversize dresses or resort to providing last-minute alterations which can be costly. However, there are a few specialist retailers who cater specifically for pregnant brides with a selection of traditional and modern dresses which have been designed to accommodate young brides with a bump.
