Bridal Beauty Tips

Naturally, you’ll want to look as lovely as you can on your wedding day – it’s the day you’ve been planning for months! So here are a few tips to get you started

Beautiful BrideWhen it comes to choosing the right wedding day make-up there are several rules to follow. Most importantly, you should choose products and a look that you are comfortable with. Try not to overdo things as your dress will exaggerate bold colours and make them look bolder.

Have an over-the-counter consultation with a classy cosmetics range, by all means. Discuss any skin problems and find out which of the good-quality skin-care preparations will suit your skin.

Well in advance of the big day you should try to develop a skin care regime. Cleanse, tone and moisture every day and invest in good quality products to take special care of your skin. At a time when you have so many things to organise it’s easy to overlook the basics. It might seem obvious but the importance of regular sleep, fresh air and exercise can not be overemphasised.

DIY or Professional Wedding Day Make Up?

Hiring a make up artist for the day can be a good idea, make sure you take your time to find the right person – ask to see examples of their previous work. They may have a website or a portfolio for you to look through

What to Take with You on the Big Day

Make sure your equip your chief bridesmaid with all you need for beauty touch-ups during the day. Lip-gloss, blusher and tissues for emergencies are all essentials. And don’t suffer a shiny face in your photos. Keep a powder/foundation compact at hand and apply with a small brush to avoid the ‘cakey’ look! Tuck a tissue down your dress or up your sleeve… just in case!

Eye Make Up

It used to be ‘in vogue’ to match your eye shadow with the dress and wedding day theme – but you should pay more attention to your skin tone. Every persons’ skin is different and a colour that matches your theme won’t necessarily suit.

Waterproof mascara is a must on this emotional day, but don’t forget you’ll need a special eye make-up remover to get it off at the end of the night. Eye-liner pencil and mascara give the eyes the emphasis needed for the photographs. Brown/black and navy mascara can really open the eyes.

Wedding Day Lips

To ensure the lipstick will last most of the day, outline the lips with a lip pencil just slightly darker than the chosen lipstick.

Matt lipstick stays put for longer. Generally, Rose and Coral lips tend to suit brides best though the general look is more important.

Bear in mind, also, that the eye shadow shade has a heavy influence on the appearance of the lips. Avoid too much lip-gloss, also, as this can reflect camera flash and spoil the photographs.

Your Wedding Day Nails

Your hands will be a focal point on the day so a manicure is a must.

Avoid doing anything that will cause nails to split and break and take extra care when shaping them. Use plenty of hand cream in the weeks leading up to the big day, to get them super soft and smooth.

Your Hair on the Big Day

Finding the right colour is essential, start planning as early as possible. Subtle highlights/lowlights will bring out your eyes and add extra sparkle to your look. Wash your hair the evening before the wedding as this will make it easier to style, minimise flyaway hairs and ensure your ‘do stays done for longer.

Skin Care

Look after your skin on the run up to the big day. Regular cleansing, toning and moisturising will keep you blemish-free and looking healthy.

Go easy on the moisturiser to ensure shine-free wedding snaps, a light lotion rather than a cream will work best. Take extra care with the application of the blusher as this could ruin the whole effect.

Cream blusher can give a lovely dewy effect but needs to be applied before the face powder. If using powder blusher apply after the face powder, to create shape, starting from the ear and blending down the cheekbone.
