Wedding Day Make-up Tips

Choosing your wedding makeup is one of the fun parts of wedding planning. However it’s also very important because you will obviously want to look your very best on your big day. The make-up you opt for will impact on your overall look and will be forever documented in your wedding photos.

Many brides choose a natural look with emphasis placed on the eyes, however there is nothing in the rulebook to say that you can’t go for a more dramatic look. Whatever you choose, you need to make sure that you are happy with the look and have had at least one trial before the wedding day.

If you have decided to apply your make-up yourself, it will be worth booking a consultation with a makeup specialist at a local department store such as Debenhams or John Lewis. They will be able to give you an idea of which colours suit you best and which you should avoid.  You should make sure you are fully confident about achieving your desired look before your big day and check with friends and family that it will complement your dress and hair. After all, you don’t want your makeup to take attention away from your dress.

If you have gone for the safe but more expensive option of hiring a beautician for the day, you will again need to make sure that you are happy with the look before your big day. Make sure you tell them what look you are aiming for and are completely happy with the final look. It’s important to let the beautician know if you would like to change anything and be sure to try a couple of different styles to see which looks best.

If you have sensitive skin, let whoever is applying your make up know so that you don’t break out in spots just before your big day. Also, if you have a favourite foundation, eye-shadow or lipstick that you want to use, take that along to your trial. You will no doubt need to top up your make up throughout the reception, so remember to buy any makeup that you might need.

Finally, don’t forget your nails; a manicure is essential for an elegant ring finger!
